I was wondering that myself a couple of years ago.
The answer I found has completely changed my life in such a short amount of time that I would like to share it with you.
There are two ways to make money from home. The first is to work from home. The second is to have a home-based business. If it sounds like I'm joking here, I'm not. The two are completely different, I promise you.
Work from home is something like a typist or virtual assistant or medical billing specialist - when you are actually employed by somebody and you are paid a fixed salary or hourly wages for your services.
When you start or purchase your own business and work at that from your home you are your own boss and the success-or failure-of your business rests on your shoulders. And as far as earning potential goes, the sky is literally the limit. The trade off is increased responsibility.
If you're looking on advice about how to work at home, I'm not the best person to give it. If you want to know about a home-based business, I'm more than happy to help.
The electronic revolution has made the Internet the number one way to sell goods and services to the customers who want them, and has allowed sellers to reach an unimaginable amount of potential clients.
The Internet has also created a concept of a "Internet marketer": a person who markets products and services via the Internet.
Keeping that in mind, the concept of home-based business often means Internet-based business nowadays.
Like "real businesses," each Internet venture must have products to sell, a way to promote them, and a way for customers to purchase them.
This is where you have to choose what is it that you are most comfortable with, because options are endless.
The biggest advantage Internet-based businesses have over their traditional cousins is the relatively small amount of investment that needs to be made to get them up and running, and keep them that way. There are no storefronts to maintain or pay rent on, there are few-if any-employees to manage and pay, there is almost no need to keep more than minimal amounts of inventory on hand at any one time. In short, it's cheaper to begin an Internet business than a "brick-and-mortar" equivalent and, therefore, you'll be able to see the results of your hard work (or lack thereof) almost immediately.
The idea of Internet business is still young, not a lot of people have experience with them. When you're talking about Internet businesses, you're likely to run into a lot of disgusted people saying that they're all "scams" or "definitely too good to be true!" But your uncle Joe who has spent his life tinkering under the hoods of cars is bound to think that anything over the Internet is dangerous.
But a business is a business, whether it's an Internet venture or a corner grocery store. There will always be risks to everything you do and you stand as much chance of getting conned into buying something you don't want or need at your local department store as you do on the Internet-maybe more so. If somebody came up to you on the street and offered you a check for ten grand out of the goodness of his own heart, wouldn't you be a little suspicious?
The best way to evaluate any business, online or otherwise, is to arm yourself with information. The more you know about something, the easier it becomes to make rational, knowledgeable decisions about it. You wouldn't let yourself be snowed into buying a money tree from a door to door salesman just because he said it would make you a millionaire would you? You'd check into it first and see it would actually give you what it was promised to, right?
As far as internet based business opportunities, look at following things:
- What is the product it's selling?
- Is the product's worth visible to consumers?
- Is there a marketing framework already in place?
- Is anybody going to be there to help you when you have problems?
- How much profit do you stand to make of each individual item, twenty-cents per candy bar or $20,000 per cherry red convertible?
Answers to those questions should be readily available to you and will help you make the right decision for you.
You may be unfamiliar with Internet marketing now, but I can assure you that you'd be surprised by the number of people already doing it-and the money there making at it. Be sure it's right for you before you give it a try though.
I can't say that I hunted around until I found the best business, but this one has turned out to be the best for me.
The next time somebody tells you all Internet businesses are scams, ask them for company names, ask them when they were involved with the company themselves, what the upfront cost in time and money was to them, and what exactly their marketing plan was.
In most cases these people never tried anything other then going to work for the last ten - twenty years, never made more then $40,000 per year and their opinion is not a valid source of information by any means.
If you are actually interested in finding people from this industry, go to You Tube - there is a lot of us over there and we are open to the idea of sharing all the information we have about what we do.
Home-based business can change your life-it did mine. The question is: will you let it?
