When a man buys a suit he usually does not have to concern himself with the number of pockets that will be available. This is because the jacket and trousers combine to have anywhere from 7 to 12 pockets stitched into them.
Unfortunately many of the pockets that are on suits are for fashion purposes and should never actually be used. The reason for this is because a jacket or trouser can quickly look stuffed and misshapen.
I wrote this article to let men know where to put their gear and how to do it in a way that does not look terrible. Upon finishing this article you will know what to do with your items each time you are forced to carry them.
The best way to keep pockets from looking full is to not use them. This can be achieved in cold climates by using your coat pockets exclusively. I do not recommend this tactic for anybody that might be at risk of having their jackets looted.
Men that dare not put items in coats for the nightmare of having their items stolen, need to be careful how they put their items in their suits. Also many men cannot use coats because they are wearing their suits in temperate weather.
Outer jacket pockets should never be used to put gear into. However, the inside pockets can be used if the item in question will not look like a lump showing through the jacket.
Pants can hide items in back pockets if the jacket is to cover the back pockets and you are comfortable with the way items feel when sitting on them. Remember that overstuffed back pockets will still bulge through a jacket at times.
When absolutely necessary you should use your front two trouser pockets to hold items like wallets and cell phones. Be sure to take all non-essential items out of your wallet to make it as flat as possible. - 15465
